Aze Ong
Aze Ong (born 1977 in the Philippines) is a modern Filipino fiber artist whose work extends from installation to performance. Aze was awarded an Asian Cultural Council (ACC) Fellowship in 2016 and has a diverse portfolio that includes exhibitions in major art venues throughout the world, including Metro Manila, Davao City, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Canada, the United States, and the list goes on. Museums, galleries, artist-run spaces, heritage sites, and practical city spaces are among these platforms. She just completed an artist residency at the Bliss on Bliss Art Projects in Queens, New York, thanks to a travel grant from the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
Crochet, knitting, knotting, embroidery, macrame, and sewing are all techniques that can be used. These are just a few of the approaches that Aze Ong use to create tactile and interactive immersive exhibits. Shapes, colors, texture, space, and movement are all used to encourage open interpretation.
