He was transported to a tiny village in Cavite, Philippines, when he was three months old and nurtured by his grandparents. He returned home to Manila after studying at New York's Parsons School of Design, Fashion Institute of Technology, and the International Center for Photography, and quickly established himself in the city's burgeoning fashion industry, producing a formidable body of work that includes some of the era's most memorable fashion and celebrity images.

His work has appeared on the covers of the country's biggest newspapers, as well as many billboards and advertisements for major businesses in the Philippines, where he has shot over 300 magazine covers. He has photographed foreign superstars such as Elsa Hosk, Coco Rocha, Sky Ferreira, Pietro Boselli, Noah Centineo, and Troye Sivan, in addition to being widely demanded by prominent local celebrities.

He is now not just one of the most sought-after photographers in the nation, but also an increasingly prominent social media celebrity in his own right, having been on multiple magazines covers and worked with companies such as Calvin Klein, Samsung, Loewe, and Louis Vuitton.

BJ is well-known not just as a photographer, but also as one of the country's most stylish people, with an edgy, fun, and androgynous sense of style.             His contemporary photography; includes the following elements and principles of contemporary arts:

  1. Time, because he implies change and movement, movement implies the passage of time. Moreover, his artworks incorporate actual motion; or an illusion of motion.

  2. Text, visibly, his artworks include text and art of creatively putting the text without destroying the picture itself and still emphasizing its subject. Texts also add another level of depth that cannot be created by shape and color alone.

  3. Performance, because both he, the photographer, and his subject uses movement and perform to be able to have fabulous artworks like what he has done.
